As the wife of a soldier I am always on the lookout for extra protection and peace of mind. Especially having 3 children to watch over while my husband is gone, I worry constantly about having to handle whatever problems come our way.
So of course, as life goes, I had the misfortune of my alternator going out on my Dodge Grand Caravan while I was on vacation visiting family 1800 miles from home. My husband was deployed overseas at the time, and talk about even more bad luck…this all happened on my birthday. I wasn’t sure what to do, and I didn’t want to make a big deal and ruin the birthday celebration my family had planned. But I was even more worried about how I was going to drive back another 1800 miles home safely with my 3 kids. I kept worrying about how awful it would be if I got stranded in the middle of nowhere or had a break down in the middle of the night on a busy highway.

When I Needed It Most They Were There
I bought my vehicle service agreement with Motor Vehicle Services several years ago hoping that I’d made the right decision. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever really need it, but I purchased it just in case. Then last April I was very happy I did.
It started off as a typical day, and I was driving with my 3 little boys to drop off at school. My car suddenly broke down and we found ourselves stranded on the side of the road during early morning traffic. I quickly began to panic since my husband was away on a business trip and I didn’t know the first thing about cars. My kids were getting antsy and I knew I had to do something fast.
After calling Motor Vehicle Services, they immediately arranged for a tow truck to pick us up and drop us off at the closest dealership. They also arranged for the rental car while I was at the dealership so my kids were barely late for school that day.
Normally, I always go to the same mechanic my parents use, but since getting my boys to school was my top priority at the time, I went outside my comfort zone and chose the quickest solution. I was very nervous about going to a mechanic I didn’t trust and ended up calling Motor Vehicle Services persistently throughout the day for updates. They were very reassuring and my car was repaired and ready to go within a few days.

Screwed by My Warranty Company
As a college student living in Chicago transportation can be scary enough without running into car problems. But while I was driving on the interstate on my way to catch the train to class, my car just stopped working and left me terrified as cars were flying by.
Needless to say I missed my train and never made it to class, but I was more worried about what I was supposed to do now. And as if things weren’t bad enough, I then found out the car warranty I had purchased from another company was no longer valid because they had gone out of business!

When It Rains It Pours
After buying my car warranty back in 2007 I never imagined what a lifesaver it would be. As a senior living alone I try to be as prepared as I can, but sometimes it just seems like everything is out of your hands.
Recently, I had to make a trip across Texas for a medical appointment. On my way back, the water pump of my Cadillac went out on the freeway. I knew where I was according to the map, but that’s about all I could tell you. I was already feeling emotional from the doctor’s visit after hearing my cancer had come out of remission, and now I was feeling even more distraught.

Why I Protect It Even When I Don’t Drive
I own a 2002 Corvette that I probably drive less than 300 miles a month. But I always keep it insured for that very reason. Since the motor fluids aren’t always moving, they don’t have the opportunity to “cycle through” and get cleaned out. – Therefore, not driving it very often also causes damage.
So even though I’ve never filed a claim, I keep renewing with Motor Vehicle Services because I enjoy the peace of mind that protects my pride and joy! Would I Get Stuck with the Repair Bill?
I work on construction sites, and my vehicle is very important for getting the job done. On one occasion, my truck broke down while I was at a site out in the middle of nowhere. I couldn’t afford to be without it, yet there was no phone signal so I wasn’t able to call Motor Vehicle Services and get the repair covered by my vehicle service contract.
