Must-Dos After Purchasing Auto Warranty

by Gregory Nelson

Once you’ve purchased an auto warranty, make sure your diligence doesn’t stop there. It’s not enough just to say you have an auto warranty when you need to make a claim, you’ll of course need documentation to prove it. So here is a list of suggestions to make your auto warranty work for you when the time comes:

Keep everything organized after the sale by creating a folder (or another centralized location) for all auto warranty related papers. This will alleviate frustrations down the road when you are trying to locate documents

Since your auto warranty probably requires service and maintenance records, make sure to always keep your receipts…and not just in the glove box. Make a copy and keep it in your designated folder along with other warranty documents.

Don’t rely solely on your computer to keep records. If your auto warranty policy was emailed to you, always print hard copies. You never know when your computer might fail. But this can also work the other way around. If your auto warranty policy was mailed to you, you can always scan it and keep a record of it on the computer just in case.

Finally, make sure you have contact information for the auto warranty company accessible to you at all times. This will make things easier when you have a claim, and can alleviate any confusion if you have a question about the claim process.
