If your cars auto warranty is almost up, do not panic. Your original standard manufacturer’s warranty might be gone, but you can always replace it with an extended warranty, and keep your car in like-new condition.
There are two keys to getting an extended warranty for your car. One, be sure to do the shopping a little early. If you let your coverage lapse, you will find it much more difficult – and expensive – to find new extended coverage after the fact. This is due to the concern on the part of the warranty provider that you might be coming back for coverage because something has or is about to go wrong with your car, and you want someone else to pick up the tab.
The other key is to make sure you are not simply getting the “best coverage” or the “best rates”. The best coverage might include items that you don’t need to have covered, and therefore be a waste of money; likewise, the best rates might not provide you with enough coverage for your car. Be smart about your cars auto warranty, and make sure you find something that will suit your needs, your car’s needs, and work with the way you drive.
