Having a car warranty is one of those things that can either bring great relief or regret to a stressful situation. When those major car repairs sneak up on you, you don’t want to be the one regretting the car warranty you chose (or lack thereof).
So how can you make sure you’re the person boasting, “Thank goodness my car warranty covered the $700 repair for my clutch fan” instead of falling into the regret category?
- Don’t buy the first car warranty you are offered. Not all car warranties are the same, and you want to make sure your vehicle matches the qualifications.
- Don’t go for the cheapest car warranty out there. Ask questions about what they will actually cover vs what you will be responsible for, including deductibles and other out-of-pocket expense.
- Make sure you understand the process to submit a claim so you don’t experience unnecessary regret that would have otherwise been covered.
- Always ask to see a copy of the contract BEFORE buying anything and ask about any unfamiliar terms.
- Research the company for customer testimonials, etc to make sure they are legitimate.
Overall, it’s been my experience that much of the regret associated with car warranties could have been avoided. I hope you are able to experience the relief a car warranty can bring when you need it the most.
