Lots of people will proudly tell you that they have a bumper to bumper auto warranty, but a lot of those people have no real idea what that means. Despite what it might sound like, a bumper to bumper auto warranty does not cover every single part of your car. It probably won’t even actually cover the bumpers.
Instead, a bumper to bumper auto warranty covers the same things as the powertrain warranty – engine, transmission and drive train – but it also covers damages done by faulty parts or bad installations on other factory installed pieces. But consumables and wearables – like fluids and belts – and more fragile items like glass and bumper mounts are likely not covered. Of course, what is and what is not covered by your particular bumper to bumper auto warranty will depend on the company you have the warranty through, the make, model and year of car you have, and where you purchased the warranty through.
The only way to know for sure what is covered by your bumper to bumper auto warranty is to read your warranty paperwork. This is always a good idea – it’s never fun to find out later that a repair you thought would be covered isn’t.
