Don’t Risk This With Your Used Warranty

by Gregory Nelson

Picking the right used warranty company is just as important as choosing the right car coverage. And I can’t tell you how important the relationship is between you and the company you choose.

Like we’ve talked about before, most of the used warranty advertising you see is from direct marketing companies – not actual warranty companies. So if you purchase a used warranty from themĀ  they aren’t going to make things any easier when you are in a tight bind. Why? Because if you ever file a claim you’ll deal with an entirely different company: the warranty administrator. And who knows how long it will take you to get through to them.

Let me explain by telling you about a situation we had in which the wrong used warranty company could have left one of our clients hanging when she need them the most:

Billy is a senior citizen and had to make a trip across Texas for a medical appointment. Unfortunately she received some bad news. Her cancer, which had been in remission, returned. It was already shaping up to be an emotional day, but then on her way back, the water pump on her Cadillac went out on the freeway. She was following directions on a map, so of course she had no idea where in the world to find a reliable mechanic in that part of town, nor did she even have a cell phone to contact anyone for help.

After someone finally stopped to offer help she called DCI Warranty Services. Now, this is the important part of the story: Since we service our own used warranties (meaning there are no direct marketers slowing you down in the middle) we were able to get a tow truck out to her immediately.

However, Billy’s troubles weren’t over yet. She was afraid her car would take more than a day to get repaired and she wasn’t prepared financially to stay overnight if needed. Again, since we work directly with the mechanic, Billy’s car was in and out of the repair shop that very day.

If she had purchased her used warranty from a direct marketing company, they very easily could have blown her off and told her to call the “claims department” a.k.a the warranty administrator. And there’s no way the administrator is going to take the time to find her a mechanic, negotiate the repair fees and make sure she’s back on the road before sunset.

So If you’re considering a used warranty, don’t risk it! Let us help you get the right coverage for your car and deliver the kind of service you will want if you ever find yourself in a similar situation as Billy.
