You may be surprised to learn that many extended warranty complaints are not the fault of the warranty companies – they are due to people not taking the time to review their warranty policies properly and getting caught on the wrong side of an assumption.
This probably happens because many people think it’s someone else’s job to point out the pitfalls for them, when in fact, the only person who is at fault for not seeing them in advance is the person who falls. You have to take care to understand what is in your extended warranty, and know ahead of time what repairs are covered, and what repairs you will be required to pay for out of your own pocket.
If you fail to educate yourself, do not expect sympathy later on, when you complain that the warranty company “tricked” you. It is very easy to trick someone who doesn’t pay attention in the first place – but it is very hard to fool someone who is concerned about their own state of affairs. If you keep yourself up to date on what your extended warranty says, you will never have to complain about how someone is out to get you, or trying to cheat you. You only cheat yourself by refusing to care.
